Alexander Pope
In his 18th century "An Essay On Criticism" so many words of wisdom - so many timeless lines - to wit:
"A little learning is a dangerous thing;
Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian Spring,
There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain,
And drinking largely sobers us again."
But he also says:
"To err is human, to forgive divine."
